Chris Gane, the current PGA Surrey Open champion, won The Richmond Pro-Am and smashed the course record with an impeccable eight-under-par round of 62, four shots lower than the previous professional course record of 66.

Gane, attached to Left Handed Golf at Silvermere, shot a flawless round which included 6 birdies and an eagle 3 on the 17th; his last hole of the round. Speaking after his round Gane commented:

“It was one of those rounds where everything went right! There’s something about the course that I really like, and at this time of year with running fairways and receptive greens, all four par fives were on and as I was driving really well, I only needed irons to reach the greens.”

In second place was James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent) who carded a four-under-par 66, and Kevin Tilbury (Hazelmere) with a 67. James Ablett also played on the winning team on the day alongside Richmond members David Cuss, Grant Elner and Jeremy Trevethick.
