Last Friday Epsom Golf Club held their Annual Junior Open, but this year changed it from a club team event to individual due to falling numbers and what a great success it was too.
Over 30 juniors competed from various clubs near and far and what a display of young talent. From a 10 year old playing off nine to a couple of lads off scratch and also great to see four very talented girls in the field. The course was looking great and the conditions were perfect, all set up for some cracking scores.
The Franklin Trophy was for the best gross score and this was won by Harry Crockett of Addington Palace Golf Club, who carded a very impressive 69 (-1). Harry beat Luke Stock of Tandridge Golf Club and Ben Partridge into second and third with gross 71’s.
The handicap competition was just as keenly contested, but coming out on top was Ben Whalley of West Hill Golf Club who beat Hyan Mo Yang of Burhill Golf Club on a countback, both lads shot a nett 68.
Taking the girls handicap competition was Olivier Brook of Dyrham Golf Club with a gross 77, nett 69. Olivier also beat all the other boys to the nearest the pin comp as well.
