PUTTENHAM GOLF CLUB MEN’S CAPTAIN WINS TEAM EVENT AT THE THIRD ANNUAL PUTTENHAM GOLF CLUB PGA SOUTH

With the Puttenham golf course in pristine condition 92 golfers in total, which constituted a full field set off in the third annual Puttenham Golf Club PGA South Region Pro-Am for what proved to be a great day’s golf.

A brand new Mitsubishi Mirage Car had been put up by Normandy Garage, the events main sponsor for a hole in one at the 176 yard, par 3 18th but sadly, despite a few close calls, a hole in one proved too illusive on the day! Local PGA Professional Nico Els (Professional Golf Tuition Breaks) won the individual professional event with a one under par round of 70. A very creditable performance on what proved a tricky day which had a blustery breeze blowing throughout eventually brining some rain to the 6220 yard par 71 Puttenham layout.

The story of the day however was the winning team which included Puttenham Men’s Captain Nick Arney who had been the driving force behind the scenes of the event. He lead his team of fellow Puttenham members Peter Grant and Doug Giberson, along with team professional Nico Els, who did the double of team and individual professional victories to a fourteen under par team total just pipping last year’s winners on count back over the final nine holes.

It also proved a great day for the Men’s Captains Charity as the £600 raised in the raffle went to The Saving Tiny Lives Appeal for the neonatal unit at Frimley Park Hospital.
