THE LONDON CLUB TO HOST NEW 2018 GOLF TOURNAMENT FOR ACCOUNTANTS

Accountants across London and south-east England are being invited to swap their balance sheets for a golf scorecard and take up the challenge of playing in a new tournament especially for the profession.

Starting next June, the FORE Accountants Golf Tournament 2018 will feature accountants, their colleagues and key clientele competing in teams of four for the chance to be crowned as national champions.

Four regional qualifying Stableford competitions will be staged at a collection of top golfing venues across England, including at the London Club, near Brands Hatch in Ash, Kent, on Wednesday, July 25.

The top four teams from each will then progress to compete for a collection of star prizes at a grand final at the prestigious Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club in September 2018 – with a luxury seven-night golf holiday to Mauritius for four people up for grabs to the overall winners.

Costing £899 + VAT per team to enter, the FORE Accountants Golf Tournament 2018 – which is being backed by Accountancy Age as a media partner – will feature qualifying events at four of the country’s leading golfing venues, with the London Club hosting a qualifier alongside The Manor House Hotel & Golf Club in Wiltshire; Moortown Golf Club near Leeds; and Little Aston Golf Club near Birmingham.

The London Club is located in the glorious countryside near to Ash Green and the historic Brands Hatch motor racing circuit.

The International Course, host venue for the 2014 Volvo World Matchplay Championship, was designed by Ron Kirby under the Nicklaus banner. The course, which flows either side of a valley, offers spectacular views and, with a number of water hazards and a variety of bunkers to be negotiated, will provide an exciting challenge to all competitors.

Featuring a maximum of 30 teams per event, qualifying packages feature 18 holes of golf and also include breakfast on arrival, tournament goody bag, post-golf meal and prizes for the top-three teams and nearest-the-pin and longest-drive winners.

The same benefits will also be on offer for the 16 teams qualifying for the grand final as well as an array of others including a three-course prize-giving dinner, after-dinner comedian/celebrity and the chance to win a £35,000 car at a hole-in-one competition.

Each event will be played over 18 holes and the format will be betterball Stableford, with the best two nett scores on each hole counting towards a team’s final total, with the 2018 champions being treated to a week’s luxury holiday to Mauritius staying at two Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spas, including flights and golf.

The FORE Accountants Golf Tournament 2018 is being organised by the Azalea Group – European leaders in delivering powerful events, PR and marketing solutions for the tourism, lifestyle, golf and sports sectors – as part of a new dedicated events division that the company formed earlier this year.

And helping them to promote the event will be Accountancy Age, the publication for accountants working in practice in the UK. Launched in 1969, Accountancy Age provides essential technical insight across a range of issues affecting the UK accounting profession.

Matt Lacey, events manager at the Azalea Group and tournament director, said: “Golf is still considered by many as an important business tool, but how many of us actually get to play in a professional-style tournament?

“Having run a number of competitions for PGA golf professionals, we wanted to create a “professional feel” event for various industry sectors and, and with the backing of the leading publication, Accountancy Age, this seemed a good place to start.

“Accountants have a passion for golf and the new tournament will give them the opportunity to not only play some fantastic courses and win some incredible prizes, but to have the chance to be crowned the Fore Accountants champions for 2018.”
