Congratulations to Sheree Dove Wilde of Camberley Heath who has won the Ann Howard Trophy (over 60s) at the English Women's Senior Amateur at York Golf Club. Sheree qualified for the match play stages of the competition in first position after three excellent rounds in the 70s, four shots ahead of nearest rival Angela Jones of Canterbury. The top eight in the stroke play went forward to the match play.
Sheree won her quarter final match against Iona McKean of West Sussex 3&2 and then played Claire MacLeod from Harwood in the semi final. This was a tense affair in which Sheree led for the first time following a four-foot putt on the very last hole, to win the contest 1 up! In the final, she came up against Angela Jones, who had beaten Belinda Pope of Hindhead on the 19th in her semi final. Angela birdied the 1st but Sheree won the next four holes, thanks to birdies on the 2nd and 5th. She was 4-up through 10 but was pegged back by three pars and so there was just one hole in it after 14. However, Sheree saw out the match 3&2, her second Ann Howard Trophy triumph, after winning in 2021 at Market Rasen Golf Club.
Congratulations, Sheree!
